This was our second time in London and we were so happy to be back. First because we were able to see friends again and second because we had such a quick visit last time that we had more we wanted to see. I’ve always wanted to have proper English afternoon tea. So this time I wasn’t leaving without afternoon tea. And I knew exactly where I wanted to go: Sketch. As soon as I saw photos online of an all pink tea room, my mind was made up. So we made reservations with our dear friend, Manpreet, for a lovely afternoon tea.
Even though it is located in the heart of London, it feels very Parisian. The cushions are pink and velvety. They kind of remind me of lady fingers on dessert. The walls are covered in art and there are cute messages on all the dishware.
Everything they served was absolutely delicious. It comes with tea sandwiches, desserts and scones. The scones with cream were to die for but I really loved it all. What I didn’t realize before going is that you can order as many of the sandwiches as you want. As this was the beginnings of my pregnancy I was pretty much hungry all day long. I think I was eating the entire two hours we were there.
And let’s just talk about the bathrooms for a moment. When you need to go to the loo, all of a sudden you’re transported to a futuristic land of white pods. It doesn’t seem to match the delicate tea room, but it is really fun.
After stuffing ourselves with sandwiches and desserts, we walked it off with a stroll down Carnaby Street nearby. I hadn’t really heard of it before going but I loved all the shops it had.
Next I’ll be sharing our trip to Borough Market.
